Project Overview

Skateboarding in my hometown, La Calera, and other small towns nearby is far from mainstream.  This is a project to keep skateboarding lit and underground in small towns. To support local skaters to keep pushing and stay independent and true to skateboarding.

The Problem

Talented skaters in small towns from Colombia and LATAM don’t have exposure to opportunities and many end up quitting skateboarding because they lack the resources and time to practice.

Language barrier

A lot of english speakers can't connect with stories from LATAM due to the language barrier.

No Sponsor, No time

Most skaters don’t have a team or a sponsor, so they have to get jobs to support themselves. Leaving no time for skating

Lack of Knowledge

Many skaters and creators don't know how to monetize their content or sell products online internationally.

With purpose and core values connected to the identity of the skateboarding culture and community.

Make an inclusive community for people  interested in skateboarding. To learn about and support local skaters.

User personas

Sharing with skaters from different nationalities, is easy to recognize common characteristics and identify the ideology, culture and values of the people in the community.

The color palette uses basic colors with high contrast and emotionality.

Logo applications

The goal is to allow all types of users to easily and smoothly complete the main tasks of the platform, considering the particular needs and goals of each type of user during the navigation in the digital ecosystem.

Posters & Stickers

This particular section of the ecosystem gives the users the most functionality by presenting many integrations and new tools. Is very important to make the user feel identified with the platform and connected with the community.

Photo & Video

My curiosity for art and the creative process lead me to collaborate with and interview creators from around the world. Using photography and video  to share their work and creative process to inspire upcoming artists.

Clothing

After defining the main tasks and the user flow, the wireframing phase began with the goal of giving all types of users the best experience possible, making the app easy and fun to use.

Project Design Overview

LXD is an ongoing project to create a digital ecosystem that changes how creators connect, create and collaborate online.

In this journey exploring arts and creativity I have developed my knowledge and skills in UX design and web development, also video editing, production, business creation and strategy.

The project is in prototyping phase and will be online by 2024. This is a overview of the design process.

The Problem

Most platforms and social networks are centralized, private and competitive. Limiting and restricting creators.

Management

Having different networks, channels and profiles make it hard to show in one place who we really are and all our work and activity on the web.

Inequity

Most platforms offer features and tools that are too narrow and ignore a broader audience, limiting diversity and inclusion.

Biased content

Overly especialized platforms and algorithms make it difficult to explore new topics and ideas.

Complexity

This integration of features and tools represents a technical, organizational and design challenge.

Color palette

The color palette includes a the whole chromatic range to reflect the diversity of the community. Using color gradients to express the crossplatform nature of the ecosystem.

User personas

A constant analysis of the user characteristics and  needs took place during the whole process to better understand and create real solutions for each type of users, different personas were created.

User Flows

Editorial Design

UNITY is the first issue of the Xplore magazine. It was created in collaboration with a close group of creators and friends to communicate visually the narrative and style of the publication. My role was to lead the editorial and design team.

The company was missing a logo and a presentation to communicate the brand.
